And they have a newer Silverstar too. Much brighter but they are hard to find. Call around to locate them but you will be very happy over the stock lights.

Ditto on the Silverstar by Sylvania. I picked them up at Autozone for $37+tax. Easy to install. Just don't touch the bulb with your bare hands i.e. wear gloves while handling them. If you need help just shoot me a PM and I'll help walk you through it. I just did this myself this past weekend.

Here we go again with the SilverStar debate. They're $40 a pair and when one blows in 6 months or a year, you'll be buying another one, and another, and so on. So if it's worth $200 to you over 3 or 4 years to have light that is only marginally better than stock, go for it.

I had 'em for a year and that was my experience. When I switched back, I found that clean, properly aimed stock headlights are just as good for all practical purposes, i.e. the difference isn't worth the money. SilverStars are a waste.

Most who say they're SO much better than stock are influenced by wishful thinking. Nobody wants to drop $40 on bulbs just to find out the stock ones weren't that bad after all.

Well if it is going to reach $200... then aftermarket xenon kits start getting affordable.

Friend of mine, put a set on his Ford Harley truck and they are nice... but low beams only, as I recall.

Properly aimed lights, with a decent fog/driving light kit is the way I'll be going.

The price I quoted was for the pair. One of the OEM headlights burned out so I just replaced them both. This is my first time trying them so you may want to factor in the opinions from the folks who have more experience with their durability.

There is no true conversion kit for the Xterra...you can make other kits work (IIRC) but it's kinda iffy as there aren't projector lenses made for the X.

I was really close to getting the GE Nighthawks but could find the right size. Went with the Silverstar Ultras. So far they've been great. Noticable difference, brighter, and much whiter. Especially great on high beams. We'll see how long they last, had them about a month. If they don't, then I'll go with the Nighthawks.

Recently picked up a pair of the 9004 Silverstars at Walmart for my 2001 X... so far I'm prety happy with the color of the light... from what I understand, not touching the bulb at all during installation is critical to extending the life of the bulb...

X2 means that he agreed with the post above that he was quoting, not the name of the bulbs.

The bulbs that they were refering to were the GE Nighthawks. Good luck!
