I had known that it was produced in China by Nissan as the Paladin...and that a diesel version was made for South America....What I did not realize was that there is a small manufacturing plant over in Iran that turns them out exclusively for the Iranian market under the model name "Roniz"....whats funny is that this company also makes Wranglers and used to be part of the Jeep company before Iran underwent the Islamic revolution back in the late 70's...take a look at some of the other vehicles they make...its pretty funny....now I know where to go to get Xterra parts like 30 years from now!! They'll still probly be turning out the original Xterra model even that far in the future!!

You miss the point of it though. It's like the 2 door Pathy from the 80's and early 90's or the gen 1 4 Runners. There is a row of seats back there for people to use! It's not an open bed with a cap on it. Also, if you were to put a rack on a short bed Fronty with a cap on the back, it couldn't hold NEARLY as much as the rack on the 2 door X looking thing. What you described would COMPLETELY defeat the purpose of it.

Evidently from what I read, Nissan still sends representatives over to their plant from time to time to advise on certain things...I'm not sure but I would suspect that the manufacturing plant is state owned by the government of Iran...it used to be an AMG/Scrambler plant--thats the connection to the Jeeps....and I doubt they care too much if they have a "license" to produce the Jeeps--though they may...What on earth could D/C threatin the theocracy of Iran with??

the nissan partol 2 dr (called hardtop) are solid axle jeeps basically.

go to Nissan of Australia and check out what they get. The front axle would be a cool thing to get for non hybrid solid front axle conversions (unless it is weak).

Seranza: First I thought it looked like a 96-04 Pathfinder, but with the original Frontier nose, but on closer inspection, it looks more like what a Frontier-based SUV would look like if they didn't make the Xterra. Kinda looks like a Frontier version of the Sani now that I think about it.

Pariz: Looks like a 2-door Xterra, but with a pre-96 Pathfinder hatch (actually it's a Frontier tailgate and a flip-up hatch), or more likely a 2-door short-bed Frontier but a passenger area instead of a bed like the 1st-gen 4Runner (wonder if the cap is removeable?)

The HardTop, Safari Patrol, and Van are all versions of the old (pre-88) MQ/MK (160-series) Patrol, but w/ 4-cylinder engines and (on the 4-door models) the HUGE H260 rear diffs, talk about overkill!
