Using a resistor to override the sensor to increase up to 20HP. According to the seller "This is a resistor with directions that will show you how to modify your AIR/Fuel ratio and slightly change your engine timing to run stronger and with increased power."

timing is not a bad thing to play with. this may not be the way to go about it, but adjusting timing just gets you optimal performance. just like everything else, too much can be detrimental, just like leaning your afr. but to say it is a bad thing to do is way to general.

Hey all... so it the consensus that even the tornado chip is bull or is there a chip modification that increases hp? I'm installing a KN-77 cool air intake and a Gibson cat back system on my 05 off road next week and would love to get the HP over 300! Any not so painful ways from here... thanks!

Please ignore the "tornado chip" comment above I'm really not that stupid but I would still like to know how I can squeeze an extra 15-20 hp out of my OR after installing the exhaust and air filter... thanks
There is no "chip" mod that works on an Xterra, period. You can send your entire ECU off to www.jetchip.com and get it re-programmed for $300, but that's a completely different concept. Good luck getting an Xterra to 300 hp without extensive modification.

Well just doing the math... stock 05 xterra at 265hp add KN cool air and Gibson cat back each worth up to 15 hp extra that's 295hp... what about a throttle body spacer or retuning timing with one of the various units for sale out there? Seems like getting another 5hp isn't out of the relm of possibility... I realize that your X only cranks out 190hp and 300 seems pretty far off from there but there must be some less than extreme modifications out there

Try looking into Cobb tuning . As we speak they are working on a chip or reprograming of the '05 X ECU. I know this for a fact, I donated my ECU for them to break the coding on. They will start some dyno testing the first on June. I can't pedict their marketing date, but be patient. These guys are some of the best in the industry. Check them out Cobbtuning.com I posted on the header topic also. Nismo has the '05 headers out. They also have a air intake w/filter. I personally plan to do all three of these to my Xterra racer.
