I saw on another forum that someone got an Energy Suspension diff drop. If for real, is this where SLR gets the diff drop? Does anyone know anything about it and if so is it cheaper than SLR's differential drop kit?

Diff drops are just stock sized bushings with off centered holes to relocate the diff lower...its not rocket science.

It wouldn't surprise me if the SLR or DayStar were the same or not...I didn't look that closely at mine when I put them in.

Well, I aquired a "SLR Diff Lowering Kit" second hand from another member in my slow aquisition of lift parts. For anyone who wants to know, here is what it is:

It came in an Energy Suspension box with this on the label:

7.1111G Front Diff Carrier Bushin

It consists of the following:

Bushing Halves with the numbers on them in (this quantity):
  • 1163 (x1)
  • 1164 (x4)
  • 1165 (x1)
  • 1166 (x1)
  • 1169 (x1)

Metal sleeves* (in this quantity):
  • 2-11/16" x 1" x 1/4" (x3)
  • 1-7/8" x 1" x 1/4" (x1)

*these are to my best measurement
Of course, the holes are offset in the bushings.

I sent Energy Suspension an email regarding the info you posted.
I'll post the response if/when I get it.
Thanks for the info on the kit.

BTW, I understand this is a beotch to put in. Can anyone give detailed instructions so I don't suffer when the time comes. other than align holes at top dead center.

I just got off the phone with Energy Suspension. [ThumbsDown]

They said that they made the bushings just for Spencer Low Racing for the front diff drop kit.

SLR is the ONLY company that machines all of the metal components for it.

Energy suspension only made the bushings, and you can't use just the bushings with the other parts.

So anyone that was thinking about making their own diff drop kit, although it may be possible, probably not easily done.
You cant order the Energy suspension bushings through anyone but SLR, and you can't get the metal pieces from anyone but SLR.

I hope that wasnt too confusing.. [Freak]

I figured that it was something that was made special for SLR by Energy Suspension.

Ok, for those of you that have done it, I crawled under and looked at the diff and tried to understand how they go in. The 2 cross member ones are a no brainer, the front ones though, have been topic of discussion. Here's my interpretation of the install from looking at it:

The drivers front bushing (smallest one) should go in with the "not round" side of the bushing facing backward (that is not round because of the diff case interfearance) with the hole at TDS.

The passenger side shoul go with the "not round" side facing forward as it has to clear the brace with the hole at TDS.

Is this correct?

slr PRODUCT PAGE

On the right side of the screen is a pull down menu. Pull it down and click on install instructions.
It gives pictures and step by step of the install.
I hope that helped.

[Freak] [Freak]

jeez. I've read the instructions a zillion times but there is no mention of the flat part of the bushing flange. I'm pretty sure I have it figured out but here this it what I am talking about:

do I have this right? It seems the most logical looking at the underside of the truck. The non-round sides should have to go like that to fit. Am I right?
