Three questions for you serious hardcore gearheads:

1. After reading all these threads concerning shocks, which is the better shock...bilstein, edelbrock, or rancho?

2. The local 4x4 shop (Hi-dust 4x4) quoted me a price of $395.00 for the following setup: rancho5000 in front, rancho9000 in back, rancho aal's, and turning the torsion bars 1 1/2 times. Is that a fair price?

3. Has anyone tried the Teraflex shackles?

Thanks for your help.

1. Depends on what you want. I run Rancho 9000's in the rear (love them) and 10% Bilsteins up front.

2. You can install AAL and crank up your torsion bars, it's not that hard. Pay for the shocks and install them too. That being said, $400 for all that ain't bad.

3. You mean the Revolvers?

I met an Xterra owner at Blockbuster who had revolvers on it. I didn't see them in action obviously but he said he loved the shit out of them...ummm, err, or something like that.

Thanks all...I guess they are the revolvers. I saw a small photo in the one of the latest 4x4 mags. They said they make them for our trucks.

Rancho RS5000's are cheap pieces of crap. RS9000's are better, but it's hard to find a good setting for on-road use. The lower model Bilstein shocks(5100 series) are not good for off-road use. The top mount is weak. I have seen them fail in several occasions. But the high model ones(ie the really expensive ones) are excellent. Try ARB Old Man Emu Nitrocharger shocks, they seem to be the best quality shock on the truck market. Edelbrock's IAS Performer is also an excellent choice. Good luck
