#420976 - 26/04/07 07:32 PM Rear suspension issue...

A while back I installed AC parts shackles for a pml. Then I added shrocks front and rear and then got the upper control arms for the three inch lift, and now it seems as tho all that extra weight in the back has settled my leaf springs in the rear back to factory height, kinda looks funny and isnt exactly helping me...

So on SLR's site it says they reccomend the three leaf pack and their 1 inch shackles. How much lift are they getting from 1" shackles if its one inch total, and currently my shakles are for 1.5 inches, I should be fine adding the three pack to help with the weight in the rear right?

If I add their three pack, would I have to do anything to the brake lines or anything? I do understand that 1.5 inch lift shackels plus the three leaf pack is about 3.5 inches, on some x's itd make the pornstar appearance, but I think on mine it may actually help it out because of the weight

Sorry about spelling errors in a rush, Please help, Thanks

Mark

I believe that the leafs they are talking about is the add-a-leaf system that the have. If thats what it is than the AAL should give you 2" - 2.5" total. That in conjunction with the shackles should even you out.

Hope this helps!

Ok thats what I was thinking i was just worried it'd be too tall in the back with no way to lift it more in the front you know?

Is anybody currently running a setup like this?

I just upgraded from the pml with calmini shackles by adding SLRs AALs and SLRs Stage 1-4 UCAs along with the sway away torsion bars. I have yet to install the diff lowering kit that I also bought. I also have the longer Bilstein shocks installed.

I am currently SLIGHTLY lower in the front. so little that I can BARELY tell by looking. I honestly havent even looked at my brake lines. *note to self check them in the morning*

My leafs were looking pretty close to flat and the AALs certainly revived the rear. Not sure for how long, but I guess Ill find out in time.

Hmmm, the 1" Shackles lift you 0.5", not 1", they are 1" lift shackles because they are 1" longer than stock, and therefore provide 1/2" of lift over stock.

The 3-Pack AAL says 2", with a note that it will settle from that, most seem to get about 1.5" from it.

So a 3-pack plus 1" shackle should be equal to a 2" SL in back.

X's come from the factory with about a 1" rake, nose down, for handling/braking, purposes, etc.

You could add the AAL, but keep the 3" longer than stock (1.5" Lift) shackle...if that's the one already on there...if you'd rather have 2.5" of lift than 2", etc.

that woyuld make three inches of total lift in the back, and what would the rake be from front to back? quite a bit no? Either way would I need to extend brake lines or anything like that?

Thanks

The rear diff breather is pretty tight at a 3" SL's droop....the brake's reach though.

You should jack it up, and look at the lines for yourself, as the factory seems to move where it clips things from time to time, etc.

Sometimes, merely loosening a clip, and giving some slack, is all you need to do.

If you raise the front and back 3"...the normal rake will be preserved.

If your butt is saggy (A lot of nissan springs sag with time....), the AAL may give LESS total lift over stock than normal, as it is starting lower, etc...

Your best bet is to try the 3-pack with the 1.5" lift shackle, and see where you end up....and adjust from there.

Don't bother with a 1" (1/2" lift) shackle....that's going the wrong way for you.
