I did a search on shackles and came up with a whole bunch of discussions but frankly I was looking for some kind of instructions on how it is done.
I am trying to add 1" shackles BUT for the life of me I can not take the old ones off.
I am sure there is a trick to it besides a BFH !
Please let me know.
Thanks

I jacked from the frame only, that way the springs arent under compression, no need for the jack-in-the-srpings action. It took me about 15 min. You have to have a tall jack though.

Did you jack up both sides at the same time.
I had the car up via the frame (only one side), tire was off and diferential hanging (controlled hanging via another jack) and still I could not get the original shackles off?

Get the whole rear end up in the air just enough to unload the springs, but not so high that the axle and wheels are hanging. Let them rest on the ground. Then all it takes is a little wiggle...

If you only have one side of the truck off the ground then the twisting on the springs is binding the shackles in the rubber bushings.
