Hi all,
Had a bad experience replacing my shocks. I'm quite disappointed with Nissan. My truck is 12 months old with 13k miles, she has only seen one winter. But, my front right shock was so rusted that I stripped the nut and broke off the remaining bolt so that my only alternative was to saw (hack) off the shock. Couldn't use power tools because it was too close to the brake line. Anyway, I found the rear shocks to be quite rusted too, brown dust came out of them when I removed them. BTW, the Bilstiens are great, I'm completely satisfied with them. Thank you for listening.

What do you do to have such rusted shocks? That is alot of rust in such a short amount of time! Just curious, I would take that to the dealership and get it checked on, might be a warranty issue.

Hi Heath22
Actually, last winter was a bit on the rough side, plus all the salt on the roads didn't help. I took a quik look at the rest of the underside, everything seems well except for the rear axle, it has a very consistant clean layer of rust on it. Shouldn't Nissan just paint the entire axle to keep it from rusting? Anyway, I beleive the Bilstien shafts are stainless steel so I hope that won't happen again.

The axle won't rust through within your lifetime, not a problem.
