[Freak] back on topic. I also ordered mine about two weeks ago. The rears were in stock and shipped a day or two later, the fronts haven't shipped. SLR said that they're waiting for bilstein to ship the shocks to them. So yeah, same story here... Hopefully they come in this week.

I was starting to wonder about SLR customer service myself.

I e-mailed SLR twice asking them questions about the 5100's, and then actually ordered the Bilsteins from them online. So far I haven't received so much as one e-mail back, other than the automated response one when you make an order.

I haven't hit the panic button yet, as I realize that SLR probably gets tons of e-mails a day and would have a hard time answering all of them.

But, some response from them would be nice.

Any time I call SLR, Spencer is really helpful. He gave you the answer already, he is waiting on Bilstien. What else do you want?

Yeah - it seems Bil ships in batches after production runs, and the cycle has been apparent for years now...so, if you order at the end of the cycle, the shocks are there the next day kind of thing...if you order after the cycle ended, and have to wait for te next batch, weeks are not unusual.

I do wish SLR would stay in touch like Shrock on that sort of delay...but the stuff comes when its ready at least.

Do you own a phone? If so give him a call, leave a message he will call you back. Do you think anything is going to get built or designed if he is sitting at the computer all day??? I get him every time I call, I know I am not special.

Same here..
I've never had a problem with them. When there was a delay in the order, I knew about it and was kept up to speed on where things stood.

If there was only one negative about my last dealing is that I never got the stickers that I asked for. Since we all know stickers add horsepower, my truck's lacking right now.

They recently sent me the wrong valved front shocks with the lift I ordered and have been waiting for the last week to get the new ones. Looks like I'll be waiting for a while. I think SLR will be getting back used shocks cause I'm not waiting much longer to get this lift on.

you can install the lift without changing out the front shocks. the are the same length as the bils. Just won't ride as nice. When you get the right shocks, swap em out.

i wouldn't be too worried about SLR. i orderd some bilsteins maybe 2 months ago from them. i never got an email from them, but every time i called they were real helpful and just explained they were waiting to get the shocks from bilstein. seems to be a regular thing. i think i got them maybe 3 weeks after i ordered them

I actually have a couple of phones in my igloo, thanks. I just don't have access to long distance calls at work, and so far I haven’t been able to reach anyone at SLR on the weekends.

I'm not sure what to think about your argument in regards to not being able to get anything built or designed if he is answering e-mails all day. It sounds like you don't have a clue how a business is run. Have you ever heard of a secretary? You know, one of those people that sit in the front office answering e-mails, phone calls, etc. I didn't know that SLR was a one man show and that if he gets stuck on the phone all day that nothing gets done.

That reminds me, two weeks since I ordered the 5100's and the only way I have of knowing that I will some day get the shocks is that you guys say "SLR is a reputable company", and my Visa has been billed.

Why have an e-mail address on your web site if you don't answer e-mails?

I talked to SLR on Friday. The shipment with our goods has left Bilstein and is on a boat and can't be tracked precisely.

At this point there is nothing more that SLR can do about it. They were quick to offer a refund if I wanted. They may suck at returning emails and phone messages, but have answered the phone and been very helpful almost every time I've called.

Welcome to the world of aftermarket vendors. These guys are manufacturers, not customer service specialists. It's frustrating, but until these companies get big enough, that's just the way it is.

I've ordered bils TWICE, and both times, I got them, after Bilstein delivered them.

laugh

SLR has never stiffed me...and has been helpful when I talked to them.

The voice mail has been full a few times....the e-mails might take a while...but thats the nature of the beast in this industry...even Shrock takes a while to get back on e-mails...

The thing most people don't realize, it that an online company might get 100's of emails/day...some are requests for parts, some to ask if something might fit/work, some to enlarge their penis, etc.

...and if it takes even a minute each to respond to the first 200, half the day is gone....so they play catch up after closing, weekends, etc....its nutz.

I know where you guys are coming from. Thanks for the constructive comments. [ThumbsUp]

I don't even have a problem with SLR. So they haven't answered a few e-mails, big deal. I realize they probably get hundreds of e-mails a day, and can't answer them all. That’s just the nature of the beast.

What I get frustrated with is when a person takes the time to make a post on this site with what they think is a good question or statement and then some pinhead comes back with some holier than thou bullshit comment for no other reason than to just get a higher post number next to their name.

Was this site created to help other Xterra owners out, or to give some weakling at one end of a computer the avenue to do what he can't do in real life, beat people up?

I stand by what I said... Try calling Monday - Friday anywhere from 8am- 11pm PST. I don't understand why you can't do that, hence my question about your phone. [Wave]

Spencer is one of the best venders I have worked with. I have ordered from him severl times and he ALWAYS spends the time to make sure I get exactly what I want and need. We are a minority in the 4x4 world of jeeps and yota's. Just look at how many people make stuff for our trucks comparied to other brands. Case in point. There are already more aftermarket accsories for the new FJ than all years of Xterra's combined.

Just relax and if you want a refund to try and get them faster elswere Spencer will gladly give you one

Nobody is bashing/flaming you it's just that alot of people new to Xterra's may or may not know just how few places there are for us and yes the wait time can be longer than normal. I had to learn this myself.

anyone get shocks yet? I been calling them for 2 weeks now with no answer. i always get the answering machine. I left messages for a status on the order and left my cell number and no return call 2 weeks later. Last time i spoke to a person there they said they would check and call me back. I gave my phone # and never got a call back then. Its been over a month for shocks that i was told when i ordered would be at my door in a few days.

still waiting......longest i ever had for a auto part.....

Still waiting for the shocks and he's probably not going to call you back. After being told three times that I'd get a call back in 5 minutes with no response I stopped believing that BS...

Hopefully they show up this week.
