It seems as if the tiniest bump on the road makes my suspension squeak and sound crickety (if that's an actual word). I don't know how to determine whether it's my leaf springs or what. It only has a bit over 50,000 miles on it. Any thoughts?

I actually had some body panels loose. Sounded just like the suspension.

I checked the body panels and everything seems to be ok. Could my leaf springs be rusted or something?

The best way to isolate the noise is to move/shake systems one at a time...and see which makes the noise.

If you think its the leaves for example, just get the truck's ass bouncing up and down and listen (A freind bouncing while you look under there and listen works best...)

If up and down is quiet, try rocking left to right...

Then try bouncing/rocking the front end.

If its the suspension, that will typically allow you to hear it.

After that, tapping stuff with a rubber mallet, like the exhaust, heat shelds, skid plates, body panels, hood, etc...is logical.

Essentially, methodically work your way across the truck.

kschul2

mine was in the passenger side. If i recall it was the from bumper support.

Metal bracket thing that holds the fog light surround. Really annoying. Kept getting the could not duplicate customer concern, then i told the guy to get in the truck, he heard it then he was annoyed as i was and found it.
Happy Hunting.

So after running around trying to figure out what was making those squeaking noises, I still haven't been able to identify what it is. Got underneath and tried to find out what it was. I even had a couple of buddies push it up and down side to side and still nothing. I'm thinkin it's the shocks but I'm still clueless. I'm gonna call the shop and see if they can check it out at no charge HA!
