Nissan is hosting you guys this year on Saturday, June 12....they'll give a
special goodie bag to all Owners and buy lunch!!!!

We will host the "Best of Show" contest again - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
trophies....everyone will get an event t-shirt and we'll be happy to give a
complimentary entry to those who wish to race in either the full distance or
half distance Xterra event on Sunday.

We have a new attraction for kids this year - the Nissan Kids Base Camp -
which will include - Kids Sprint, Shimano Youth Series Bike Race, Special
Challenge Course, Bike Safety Clinic, Bike Skills Course....participation is
free - and every child gets a prize and a medal!

We will be sending a formal invitation (any minute now!!!!). So round up
the troops - Nissan's going to make it worthwhile for everyone to make the
trip...and your friends at TEAM Unlimited will too.

How do I go about getting an invitation if I live in Richmond?

No invite is needed, just show up at Brown's Island Saturday morning the 12th, at like 6-7am. Not sure on the time yet. There may be a meeting spot where we will all ride to Brown's Island together.

That's what we did last year. Was nice being able to caravan down as a group together.

Anyone want to name a spot?

Keep an eye on the ENCXC Message Board . We'll try to post more info as it becomes available. We have been keeping in contact with Jan with TEAM Unlimited. As the date gets closer we'll need to know an exact vehicle count so we can let them know. I think the record attendance for the show is 18 which is currently held my the folks on the left coast. I'd like to see us beat there record this year. We had 14 total last year.

We are trying to line up a police escort thru town to Brown's Island. Also, I'm trying to figure out where everyone is staying. Or have any recommendations?

Also, was wondering if I could get everyone that is planning to attend to drop me an e-mail (green_x_2000@yahoo.com) and let me know where you are stayin' and when you plan to arrive to Richmond.

By no means am I trying to run this show, just trying to get some hard numbers for Janet.

I've heard of at least 4 including myself, from NOVA, VA Beach, and Richmond. I'm sure that there will be a few more.

We are stayin' in the Microtel near the Airport. It is the same place we stayed for the past 2 years.

Last year we met a bunch of you at a parking lot down the road from the hotel and we all caravaned in.

Do we want to do this again???

Think we are going to try and get to the island by 8 a.m. If we all meet, should try and meet by 7 a.m.

I'm going to try really hard to get there. I'm going to be in Ocean Isle NC the week prior so I can sorta justify it as being on the way home. I really hope see meet up with everyone!

Less than a week and counting. We still need to get a solid head count. And for any locals, I think it would be cool if we could all meet somewhere close to the island and go in as a group. We really turned some heads last year going in like that. Think it would also be easier on the officials for us to show up at one time. Looking forward to seeing the folks from last year and meeting some new ones.

I think meeting somewhere is a great idea. That'd be really neat to have us all drive in the island at the same time. There is a Park and Ride right off I-64 and Gaskins Rd. (I can get the exit number tomorrow and post it) From there we could drive through the city and to the island. I'd be happy to lead everyone to the island, taking the scenic route through downtown, not to mention turning heads as we roll through.

Anyone heard about the 6 from Dynamic Racing Concepts?

I spoke with Jason (XTERRABLU) yesterday, and unfortunately, he will not be able to make this trip.

I'll be there. So will a couple guys from Long Island. In fact, I am aware of several people not on the list a few posts above this one.

Still debating whether to meet up with all of you at the park and ride, or at the entrance to Brown's Island. I'll be coming from the north via I-95/I-64. Is it feasible to try to get to the park and ride? I'm completely foreign to Richmond.

Can someone (Steve?) that is familiar with the park and ride look it up on mapquest and then post the mapquest URL for the rest of us?

If you know who they are, please add there names to the list or have them hit us up on the ENCXC message board. Want to make sure we have a good head count.

Here is the park and ride I mentioned. It's west of the city. Those coming in from the south and east would have to come around the city, and those coming from the north and west would hit it on the way in.

I don't think that is the one we met at last year. The one we met at was on the east side of town near the airport.

I saw the email... I'll just answer in the thread - I'm going down Friday now. I went ahead and got a hotel room at the Microtel - just easier that way. Plus I have Friday off now...

I'm going to try to get out of Manassas by 2:00PM on Friday to try to get ahead of traffic. If I get the truck clean and the oil changed ahead of Friday I may head down earlier in the morning and just do some exploring in the Richmond area on Friday.

I'll be showing up at the park and ride that Hokie X listed above. If all goes as planned I should be there between 7:30 and 8.

What time is the group heading out from there?

We should probably leave the P&R around 8am so that we can get to the island and get set up.

We have to be on the island by 8 a.m. Would suggest 7 - 7:30. To make sure we make it thru town.

Doug, they are meeting at a different P & R then us.

Sounds to me like there is two groups. One is staying at the Microtel near the Airport which is on the EAST side of town. There is a park and ride across the street from the hotel, this is where we met last year. The other group is meeting on the west side of town which the directions were posted for.

I64 west @ Gaskins Road Exit and the other off of I64 east @ Airport Drive by the Microtel.

Anyone know of a place close to the island that we can all meet? I'd really like for us to go in as one big group. How far is the west P&R from the east side one?

About 20 minutes apart. There has got to be a closer area for us to meet. How about a parking lot downtown? We will miss driving through town, but will catch the latter part of town and pull into the island together. The lot I'm thinking of is at 3rd and Cary. I'll post directions if you all would like.

How about this...

Meet at the parking lot between 4th and 5th Streets and Canal and Cary Streets at 7:30am. This will allow us to stroll down to Brown's Island by 8am. This will keep us all in a group and keep some of us from crossing the city a few times.

It's a little hard to get a count from XF, because some of us jump back and forth.

I'd say that there is about 5 people from XF who have not been on the list here.

HokieX - Am I reading the map correct? Is it exit 75 off of I-64?

Looks like a straight shot a couple blocks from the interstate.

That's correct. It's also labeled, 3rd Street Downtown, Coliseum. Something along those lines. From 64, it's the Middle lane when you get at the edge of the city.

Would those coming from the West and North like to meet at the PNR I mentioned earlier, say 7ish, and head into town? Meeting the East and Southern folks at the parking lot.

Doug703 - If you hit exit 75 off 64 coming from up north, you'll be going around the city about 20 minutes out of the way.

The locals have come up with plan. For those East and South of Richmond, you guys will be meeting VAterra at the PNR by the Airport. For those West and North or Richmond, you'll be meeting me at the PNR off I-64 at Gaskins and Mayland at 7am. The two groups will plan on meeting by 7:30am at the parking lot downtown that I mentioned above and all ride into the compound as one big group.

Sound good to everyone. This way we will eliminate anyone having to cross the city. (Thinking about everyone's gas )

That's a lot of Xterras. Can't wait to see them all downtown on the island on Sat. Seems like the female Xterra owners are under-represented, makes me think I should bring mine. Mine is stock and very dirty right now. Are there any stock Xterras going to be on the island if I consider joining in?

Are the trucks commited to staying on the island all day?

I will be there with mine. Stock as the day it came out of the factory.

I'm sure there will be several stock trucks there. Come on out and join us. The more the merrier. I'm sure if you need to leave they will let you go. I can't remember for sure but I think the last 2 years we were outta there in the early afternoon.

Showing up is the most important thing. Stock/clean/dirty, it doesn't matter - meeting and having a good time... yeah!

one more thing. I plan on marshalling the urban assult on Sat morning. So can I just leave my truck unattended most of the day? Aside from getting there at the crack of dawn at least I don't have to fight for a parking place and have easy acces to my bike and gear. This sounds ok to me. If I decide to show up then I'll meet the rest of ya'll at the downtown parking lot.

Sure - it's on an island, in plain view of everyone, surrounded by people (many of whom will be other Xterra owners). Better than most parking lots

You might leave your keys with someone you trust. In the past years, they have lined us up at the start - finish line, then once everyone has began their race, they have moved us closer in, so the "crowd" could walk around our trucks.

It looks like Nissan is seriously considering offering a locker for '05 - there were several of us campaining for it
