2005+ model years have the 4.0L engine available.

The one in the 2005 is much better than the 07. We have 265hp rather than the 261 now! smile

Is there anyway to drop a 2005 engine into a 04? also is there any 05 with a supercharger?

You can do anything with everything as long as you got financial resources and time. It probably will not be very cost effective, however.

There was no supercharger offered with an '05+ but there's a supercharger for the second gen sold separately by Stillen.

It wouldn't be worth the trouble to move a 4.0l 05 engine into an 04, unless you have 5-10k worth of extras into your 04 already, it would be much better to sell off your 04 and just buy a newer one. I bet you could do the swap for 5k or so, interestingly on the aftermarket there is not a huge difference between 04 and 05 but there is a HUGE difference in the vehicle itself. There is more than just 100 more horses in the 05', it is just overall a far superior truck.

Fast? Faster than the tires are rated I would assume ... something around 120-130 mph at least. I can break the tires loose if I turn the VDC off. Not as fast as my other ride though.

Aftermarket? Sillen would be the choice. I've got the '06 and know they make a supercharger for it ... like I need another 93 horse power and a bill for $5,500 plus $1000 for installation.

But give us a NISMO supercharger that doesn't touch the warranty...than I'd consider, but Stillen stay bye bye to warranty...but another 93 horses would be fun.

I drove 4 banging grocery getters before getting into an X. The new engine is pretty freaking fast. You won't win any races, but if you floor it, you will definitely feel the kick in the back. Plus, it is not how fast you can go, it is where you can go in an X smile
