I don't exactly know the limitations on speed, but if you can drive fast (more then lets say 15 MPH) then you don't need the locker engaged anyway. I only use the locker to get over obstacles or really soft stuff, not to drive around. (anyone else agrees?)

Yeah no real point to leave the locker engaged.

I use the locker when needed.

There is how ever a guy in our club that once the X touches dirt, the locker goes on. Honestly, once locked you are not going to damage the diff (or atleast I would hope the diff is stronger than that), it'll just handle like crap on a hard surface.

That's not entirely true, but I do tend to err on the side of having it on BEFORE I need it.

You can drive as fast as the truck will travel in low range - about 35MPH if I remember correctly. Oh, and the speed is limited by the computer, not the gearing (on an AT, Dunno about MT)

I am hoping I will need it less with my new tires.

Yeah - going fast with your butt locked is a bit hairy, if you are turning, as you can't differentiate in corner, so the rear end will come out on you in a turn...either due to throttle or drag braking induced oversteer.

The locker is really to help you out when you are unweighting an opposite tire, or are on mixed traction surfaces that might cause an open diff to spin the no traction tire....

If you are rolling at speed, both sides are typically tuning at the same speed anyway, just from momentum, etc.

I was wondering if it was gearing or computer. My X got stuck in 4lo once and getting up to 25mph was a challenge. (BTW, it's an Auto)
