I did a search on this and got a couple of different brands . But i would like to hear everyone elses opinion on this. What seems to work for y'all and what is the main purpose of your Xterra. EX-offroad, soccer mom, race it, etc......
I saw the NGK and I also saw in the same thread that the X does not run well on any other but stock plugs. Also alot of people said they were changing there timing to run the NGK plugs to so i'm kinda wondering what people have tried and their experience so far.

I would have to say NGK as well. I think I'm going to switch from the stock platinum tipped ones to a good ol' fashioned copper plug though... I never much cared for platinum plugs, which are generally used to help out a weak system to begin with...
I wouldn't mind some nice, beefy aftermarket wires and a hotter coil, along with a magnetic pickup to replace the stock rotor/cap... All stuff that doesn't exist, AFAIK.
I now get about 1 MPG better gas mileage (17.6 average 40% highway/60% city), smoother idle, and much quicker engine response. I LOVE these plugs!

You can use the stock wires, and no - the timing does not need to be changed. You can, on both counts, if you want to - but it's not necessary.
BP, I think the reason they went to Platinum plugs is because everybody was finding out how hard it is to remove the #6 cylinder spark plug and have it re-gapped.
As for the aftermarket ignition companies getting stuff "plug-in" products for the Xterra we can keep dreaming they pretty-much stay with domestic applications, but alot of products are general and can be put on with some minor modifications.
I remember somebody with a Frontier posting that they had a Jacobs ignition module installed on their VG33E engine and all they had to do was send in a distributor cap to Jacobs to be modified to accept the module.
I was thinking of calling up MSD and asking if they could do something similar to install an MSD 6 offroad module in the Xterra.
Plus I do know that Accel just came out with Hi-Performance ignition wires that had custom boots to go into a pre-Xterra VG33E engine. I'm pretty sure they would work on the Xterra too.
