Anyone else use it? It prevents water being sucked up in cold intakes causing hydrolock, especially while wheeling. The price isn't too bad, and its good insurance. Opinions? :p

They showed that thing openign up while pulling air 1 ft up the intake tube. Having a horizantal intak tube. it seem water would be sucked into the engine before that bypass even thought about opening up. Plus, if your filter is underwater, wouldn't the bypass also? Or at least close? I dont see puddle splash hydrolocking an engine unless there is no filter present.

I'd be more concerned about the vulnerable alternator and electronics before something like hybro-lock.

dave and xtoy - pay attention to the weakest parts

Better yet, AEM products simply don't belong on an Xterra!

Down with the ricer outfits!

I know AEM had a recall on some of those bypass valves; for example, it was recalled on their CAI for the 2000+ Eclipse. May want to check that out.

Yeah some were recalled, but have been fixed. It was just a clip. No problem on the new ones.

If you're that worried about water, get a snorkel.

Those things are intended for CAI that move the intake WAY down low... like next to the road... so if you drop into a deep puddle and fully immerse your intake, it will sense the pressure change and kick in.

There is absolutly no value in adding this to the stock, JWT Pop, or K&N setups. If you fully immerse your intake, hydro lock is only one of MANY other problems your about to experience.

I also speak from experience. I bought one and was gonna try to make it work. Finally gave up and bought the K&N kit.

I have the 3"... I 'll send it to ya for $25 if your interested in experimenting.
Still interested in the JWT Pop? It's on ebay right now.
Lemme know.
