Is this a clutch interlock bypass? Look in the lower left hand corner of the photo, the button on the dash called "Clutch Start". Anyone know if it is indeed a bypass?

For its use in Xterra, the platform utilizes an independent double-wishbone front and rigid leaf spring rear suspension, standard 4.0-liter DOHC V6 rated at 250-plus horsepower and 270-plus lb-ft of torque, and a choice of 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmissions.

250 HP now thats what I am talking about [ThumbsUp] . I totally support the fact the the lack of power has been under addressed. Finally our prayers have been answered. However... a six speed manual transmission? [Freak]

I'm going to make the assumption that this particular model shown is the off-road. It does not have any SE badging and it is a manual. I don't "think" Nissan will start offering a manual in the SE again, but who knows. I did notice the electronic 4wd, let's hope that maybe, just maybe, manual is still available and that you have to get the electronic as an option. I did notice the four empty buttons across from the 4wd, hopefully that will include some off-road goodies like a locker. (Really want to avoid the out of pocket expense personally.) I also like the improved dash layout. My 03 is hard to read at certain times of the day because of the plastic cover (seems like a common complaint that Nissan fixed.) As for the styling, for the most part it is great, there are some minor things, but I guess we should all look at the bright side, at least they did not soccer mom it out all the way!

I have to agree with some of the others - not digging the locale of the badges in the rear. Other than that, I think I may have to own an X again. This 05 revision is all around great IMHO smile

And plus, you could always debadge the back and reposition them to a different location with another set of OEM emblems. Not a biggie obviously, but if someone wanted to, they could...

The rear logo and name plates looks like they were put on by someone who had a few too many.

I like the shorter shifter... I think this is also due to the fact the the center console between the seats is a lot higher !!!

The rear is fugly. It looks cutie-pants-like. But everything else looks hot.

If you ask me though, the good old X looks more rugged.

Plus if you look at it real close from behind, it mimicks a Rav4. Ughh.

Badges? We dont need no stinking badges.

Hmm, I might just have to become an Xterra owner again soon!

Hopefully they'll figure out a better rear badge location prior to production. After reading more and looking at it more, I think I better start talking to the wife. It could take till 2005 to get her to part with the $$. I'm curious about the MPG and price now.

The BSM does look not only low but HUGE! Although with OE 32inch tires it might sit higher?

The rear bumper step is an abomination. Not only a step but a channel to slip your fot into? I'd personally like to thank all of you short people that have complained about getting to the roof rack. This was your fault laugh

The rear bumper looks even bigger and bulkier than the existing one as a whole while the rear fender well will take some getting used to. The front end changes were inevitible with the Nissan design concept of keeping a family resemblence.

The obvious upside with the vehicle being designed for 32inch tires is... NO PROBLEM GETTING 33s in there!

Just think guys: 33's minimum , a locked Dana rear end , 250HP, K&N intake and an exhaust taking you to a rousing 265HP and lots of aftermarket support. It'll be a monster.

I personally like the fact that the interior is understated and remaining functional. It's interesting that the only chrome pieces are the door locks. I personally think my X has the best cup holders in history and it doesn't look like they kept the same idea.

Did anyone notice all of those dummy switches right in the middle of the dash under the radio? Nice!

How can anyone complain about a 6 speed manual? Gears, gears, gears! I like the location of the shifter as well. Those long throws on the current model are very truck like and with that HP, quicker shifting through the gears will be a lot more fun!

All in all, I'm impressed. The little knick knacky things like badging are tiny compared to the degree in which they could have screwed up the X in the pursuit of making it a generic SUV for the masses. It still keeps a unique shape and design. It seems that they have kept it rugged and unique, adressed issues concerning horsepower and improved almost every aspect of it while still keeping the features that makes the X unique.

Very nice! [ThumbsUp]

Huh, looks pretty much just like the current model except for some minor integrations and the change in badging. Speaking of which, if the location of stick on badging makes anyone not like the truck, you have big problems! Hello, hairdryer and dental floss! laugh I took it off my current Xterra; I'd do it again!

Solar Yellow?

It's a bit tough trying to mask a lighter color over the black but you get the idea.

Allright Snoop. How about with an ARB and 33's or bigger? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's just trying to imagine the mod potential.

WOW!

I would miss the extra shifter, but with a locker, more horsepower, and REAR DISC BRAKES (!!!), I could overlook it.

I told myself I'd never buy a brand new vehicle again, so I guess I'll have to wait about 3 years to upgrade. frown
