I am looking for information on winches.

I want one that you can swap it from the front of my Xterra to the back of my Xterra.
They have these, I know.
I want it to be able to pull about 10,000 pounds.
and have a long cable.

cost is not an issue here.

You can hook up a Warn 9000i to their Multi-Mount and move it from a standard 2" receiver from front to back. You of course would need to get a hitch installed on both ends, but that is relatively easy.

Hidden Hitch makes a front hitch $99.95 for the Xterra and a winch mount $33.95 & $69.95 for the deluxe winch mount. You can get them at
www.jcwhitney.com
But remember class III hitches are only rated for 5000 lbs.

When you are towing a boat, that 5000 lbs is jumping around and jerking. It is putting way more than 5000lbs of force on the hitch. And then there is a safety factor built in on top of that. That's why a 9000lb winch can work with a Class III hitch.
