Has anyone mounted a high-lift jack on the roof or any other external mount point on a relatively stock vehicle (ie, stock rack, stock bumpers, etc). I like to keep mine with me but I hate leaving it in the back as it kills cargo room and mangles the carpet up. I don't want to get a loadwarrior yet (clearance issues) and have no plans to get a metal bumper on either end anytime soon. Suggestions, pics? Ian, didn't you do this? Since your old site is down I have nothing to study Does anyone have the pictures of the mighty-mount setup?

Thanks... I'm going to try the Mighty Mount one.. I'd like to avoid drilling the rails if possible.

hi-lift handle hugger Acool little doo-dad to eliminate rattle and wear.. I also used large rubber grommets on attachment points from my roof rack to the jack as well, they help a lot.(cutting out vibration and noise)

Here is mine - I also have mounted the shovel to the hi-lift using some old Yakima parts.

Since I snowboard, and the wife skiis, I use the ski racks in the summer for my hi lift and shovel. I have used it for lumber as thick as 2" x 8"s too. It is lockable, very secure, and fast. It seemed logical to me, but I have never seen anyone do the same thing. Maybe I stumbled onto something?

KCX, Could you post some up close pics of you Hi-Lift mount. I'm interested in the mounts themselves and the positioning so you don't block the license plate. Thanks

I went through this description elsewhere in this forum, but I thought I'd place it here as well since it is more applicable here. I used four mighty-mounts, two for each crossbar on the rack. The center bolt goes through the jack in the typical manner. I just wanted a little extra strength over the basic mighty-mount plan just in-case I got in an accident. I don't want to kill someone's kid with a flying jack. Hopefully I won't ever test it. The picture is the view from the back. The metal plates go over and under the crossbar a little so that they might physically capture the jack if it started moving forward in a collision. Probably won't do much given the strength of the crossbars. Anyway, here is my setup...
