Never heard of a Rancho BL. But tons of us have body lifts around here. Great for clearing bigger tires

Body Lifts for the X are great..they allow larger tires to fit w/o hitting on compression...they do not raise the center of gravity like SL's do...and at least on the X, they are strong and reliable (No known issues).

I have seen other makes with the occaisional problem, if they were designed to hold too much with too few mounts...so that the extra torque on the mounts might break them...but not on the X, which uses 5 mounts per side, and the mounts are all braced and gussetted, etc...a very strong design.

BL's for the old X's come in 3" and 2" versions...ALL of which are made by Performance Accessories, and private labeled and sold by others...with 4x4parts.com being the easiest place to get them.

Bigger than 33's on an X is pushing it, due to front axle limitations/room to steer...unless you are willing to cut off sheet metal, remove/replace fenders, etc....so a 2" BL is all you need to clear 33's.

The 2" BL takes you and two freinds perhaps 4-5 hrs, ~2 pizzas and ~ 2 - 6 packs in your driveway.

The 3" Kills the entire weekend...and proportionally more beer and pizza.

You are kidding right? 4-6 hours? Maybe if you have done a couple before and absolutely everything lines up, comes out and goes in smoothly.

My first one on the X took about 6 hours. The only thing that took along time was the steering...(stuck pretty good) and the raising of the bumper (poor man style)

When we did mine and Jay's it took us ROUGHLY 4 hours each, with a total of 5 guys working on them.

2" Body lift from AC was OK, but I did add an additional bolt to the bottom Radiator support bracket. It seemed way to flimsy with the supplied hardware. I've done two with several guys helping. The first was about 9hrs and the second around 6hrs, so the more you know the better you'll be. Also note if you have the tow hitch you'll have to notch the rear bumper after you re-drill the holes to bring it up with the body. Flimsy metal so it was not a problem!

All in all, if you plan on running larger tires you'll get the room to stuff them after the BL. If you're staying stock size then it would only be helping your approach/departure angles.
