Hi fellow Xterra owners,

My name is Juris Bergs, and I just joined the Xterra Owners Club, although my recently purchased 2005 Xterra S is still on the way from Minneapolis to my home in El Paso, Texas. Upon its arrival in El Paso, this Xterra will be joining my family's other 2 Nissans--an '85 300ZX and a '96 Altima SE.

Sorry to be asking a questions so soon after joining. However, I would like to know if anyone has attempted to install aftermarket speakers in their Xterra in a aize other than the original size. When my wife's Ford Focus was totalled in February, I salvaged the Polk Audio 5x7 speakers from it. Considering the cost of those speakers, I would hate to throw them away. I would like to install these speakers in the Xterra but doubt that they could be made to fit. According to Crutchfield, the Xterra uses 6 1/2, 6 3/4, 5 1/4, or 6x9 in the front doors, and 5 1/4 in the back doors. As far as I know, there are no adapter brackers that could be used to accommodate the 5x7 speakers, and I wouldn't know how to make a bracket. If anyone has any ideas, please share them with me, using my direct e-mail address: jbergs@sbcglobal.net. Thanks so much.

Best regards,

Juris

aloha.. [Wave]

As far as your question I don't see why you wouldn't be able to just make a hole resize out of MDF board and just place the board in the original location and cut out a hole for the new speaker.. Or you can search on ebay and find them already made.. hope that helps..
