I've always thought that many portrayals of Irish have largely centered around portraying most of them as "shanty Irish".

A pretty good Irish gangster movie was "State of Grace". It wasn't a really great movie, but it was fairly good and had it's moments.

It also definitely portrayed them as "shanty Irish".

HAHA....that's the best kind. If you ask for a beer / guiness in Ireland, the keeper will yell at you.... for not saying "give me a F'n guiness"
