As a birthday gift to myself, I had my local muffler shop remove my stock water heater (stock) muffler from my X, which just hit 1,000 miles, and I had a custom MagnaFlow exhaust installed. Wow!!! I am totally happy with the $175.00 that I spent and now the throttle and accelleration is superb. The X can breathe with my K&N air filter and now the engine back pressure is non-existent. Amazing what a difference! Just had to share.

If there was no back pressure, your engine wouldn't run.

Sheeesssh.... [Freak] well, I don't have the restricting back pressure now. It's nice to be able to stomp the accelerator without have to get a stiff hamstring.

Whaddya mean, I've seen engines run with straight pipes, no mufflers, exhaust right out of the headers.

I replaced the stock muffler and got a Magnaflow 6" x 18" round muffler to replace it in the stock location. The muffler shop that I went to is called Lord's Mufflers on Peachtree Industrial Raod in Sugar Hill, GA. I could have gone with the 6" x 24" but I wanted to have growl. When I stomp on the gas at over 2,500 rpms, there is a nice growl, at cruise speeds of 2,000 rpms its as quiet as stock!

Check it out at www.magnaflow.com.
