I need some high flow cats and exhaust.

1. What is the best?
2. How do I know what size, to buy?
3. How much are cats, and muffler?
4. Where to buy them?

If you can answer all Q's that would be great, thanks.

I dont know about the cats, but the exhaust, there are a couple of good ones out there. You could go the cat back route or just a muffler. I had installed a Borla stainless cat-back system on my 04. Its not that loud at all but it has a nice grumble to it. Another good system is the Gibson exhaust. You can by them direct. 2.25 inch diameter.

PS. My Borla cost me 408.00 and 60.00 to have it installed.

Hey Dave how does your Borla sound, is it loud, and deep?

its kinda in between,, there is a definate difference from the stock one. but its quiet enough to hold a normal conversation inside the cabin with the windows rolled up. But yet, when you drive by people, they turn to see what the sound is comming from. I like it. Even though I have never heard any of the other exhausts. Plus, its stainless steel and good for a million miles LOL.

I just put a magnaflow cat back exhaust and it sounds great. Go to magnaflow.com. You may even want to check out the nismo cat back system. i really wanted to getthat, but they don't make it for the sc models. Only the non sc's. If your budget is low, check out calmini's cat back at purenissan.com.(i want the calmini winch bumper next! lol) It costs only $269.00 verses magnaflow $439.00....but you do get what you pay for let's just say! lol. by the way.....it does sound deep with a 3.5 tip stainless steel all the way through.

You might wanna consider Flowmaster as well. I have a Flowmaster 40 on mine and it sounds great. It's a nice low rumble but nothing too loud. Muffler + install all cost me around $120. You can't beat that since it's a cat back and not just the muffler. Went with 2.50 diameter pipe instead of stock 2.25.

Look into that.

Dave,

I'm thinking about doing a Borla on my '04 - have you seen any change in gas mileage since installing it?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure high flow cats are going to be a waste of money, just like many of the other bolt on mods, except for headers. I remember reading a post where cyclemut said that our cats are designed to flow more freely than we would ever need. I trust his opinion.

Skip, I changed over to the Borla when I had 400 miles on my 04 X. So I really cant tell you if there is an improvement in the milage. I also installed an AirRaid cold air intake. The absolute best milage I can get is 20 mpg. Thats not going over 55, windows rolled up,perfect conditions. I doubt you will see any mpg improvment because you will be on the gas more after you get your Borla installed smile Good luck with the Borla. You will like the mellow sound it produces.

Thanks for the info Dave - I'm sure you're right - I won't be surprised if I mysteriously end up with a heavier right foot after the install! I'm not too worried about mileage - I'm getting about 18 or 19mpg now - I want a more free-flowing system and a nicer exhaust note. Thanks again - I'm psyched!
