Best Exhaust/ Muffler of them all?

I hear all of them are good, but which exhaust delivers a deep-low rumble from a small Supercharged ‘04 X-Terra? Flowmaster :: Magnaflow :: Borla :: Flowsound :: Gibson.... Which make/model is the best? Which is the best sound for the lower cost? Any one have any sound clips?

Flowmaster or Borla. Other like Gibson and Magnaflow are on the quieter side.
I personally have the flowmaster and I love it. It's a nice sound at idle, a low rumble if you will and a nice sound under acceleration.
I had a link to my sound clip somewhere in this section. I'll post a link if I can find it.

So im thinking of going with the Flowmasters. What series should I buy?('04 supercharged) I realy dont want it to sound like a rice burner.
Can i get just teh muffler or should I go a head and drop the big $$ and get the Catback??

ahtoxa, I have my original 40 series in my hand and plan on getting it installed tomorrow. Its offset/offset with 2.25. I plan on going with 2.5 piping from the muffler back. Is there anything last things i need to tell them as far as installation? Oh, and did u get a tip?

No, I didn't get a tip for it. If you're gonna go with 2.5" (which is what I did) they should be able to figure out the install themselves. It's not that hard, don't worry about it.

i guess im gonner go with flowmasters... the 2002-2004 Xterra couuld be purchased from the factory with a supercharger. I don't recall the HP numbers, but it was quite a bit faster than the non-sc Xterras of the same years.

Just to throw in my 2 cents, I just recently put a Flowmaster Super 40 on my X and it sounds great. Not very loud, but it's nice and deep and now I can actually hear when my engine is running after I remote start it! =) It sounds a lot better once the engine is warmed up too.

I have a Gibson on my 01, nice and fairly quiet with a K&N drop-in filter. Just got my Volant intake in the mail yesterday and will install it next weekend. We'll see if sounds any different then.

I run a Flowmaster SUV 50 in the black hawk and happy with it overall.
In my Bronco I run a Magnaflow 12288 which was about the same price (~$80), better performance and louder than the Flowmaster.
If I was doing it over again, I would most likely would go with a Magnaflow and trade the extra noise for more performance.

I just ordered the Calmini catback... hope it figures in there somewhere Do they use their own custom muffler... or is it from someone else?

I made a custom borla exhaust from a universal borla muffler. Cost me around 150 with installation. Sounds real good. I like it. I think its the best way to go.

I'm going about that route...getting a Flowmaster SUV 50, and custom fitting pipes to it so I can move the exhaust over enough to squeeze the 4 gal air tank where the oem muffler now sits.

Flowmaster Original 40 series.
Killer sound. I've had this for about 3 weeks now, and I STILL look forward to getting in my truck every time I'm in it. Rev it up everytime I'm in it.

Don't get a glasspack, they sound like death mixed with a little bit of urine/fecal matter in a 2 liter bottle of sprite.

The original poster(JPD) was looking for sound clips...Just got a new MP3 player that has a voice recorder so naturally I figured I'd grab a clip of my exhaust. Went to a local shop who did my brother's Trans Am GTA a few years back and it sounded amazing...figured I'd give them a shot at my X. Clip doesn't do it justice. exhaust takes a few seconds before i get her started up...had the MP3 player a tad too close I think... EDIT: Sounds 10x better on my main PC than on my laptop's dinky speakers
