I have yet to test drive the '06 but I will be soon. I currently own an '04 Supercharged with the Calmini 3" and 33's. While I'm happy with the power I know I'll want more out of an '06 (I'll be doing a lift and 33's as well).

Question is what do you recommend to get out the best performance with an '06? I would assume an exhaust and intake but which ones. Not a lot of options from what I've seen in the posts. Anyone have any additional info? Thanks!

There isn't much out there besides exhaust and intake, but with 265HP, how much more do you want?

Your choices for now are exhaust , air filter, and headers . You can get a filter other than the Nismo, and JBA makes headers for the Frontier but it hasn't been tried on the X. I think Gibson is the only one to come out with the cat back for the X. Banks makes one for the Frontier that may fit with modifications(X is shorter) or you could have one custom bent and put a Flowmaster or Magnaflow on it. No chips AFAIK. laugh

Very true. I'm not looking to get a lot out of it. If I was I would buy a sports car. I'm just looking to get a reasonable amount out of it. I would expect with an exhaust and intake about another 15 to 20 additional horsepower. Just enough to hopefully make up for my lift and larger tires.

300hp at the wheels.

I squose 292hp at 5100rpm out of my off road after KN 77 intake and gibson swept side exhaust... the this is like a bullet now and sounds unbelieveble!! I did the work myself and I'm a frikin doctor not a mechanic..

Are those dyno proven numbers?

292 hp at the wheels or at the crank? If at the crank then it's a 27hp difference and if at the wheels that would be more like a 57hp difference.

Kinda sceptical about this... Just an exhaust and intake would not usually increase your number by more then, say, 5-7 hp. Maaaaybe 10.

I think he added the assumed horsepower gain to the 265HP rating of the engine at the crank. If it was dyno then he would have gained 80-100HP minimum at the crank to pull 292HP at the wheel, assuming a driveline loss of only 20%. Using the 20% driveline loss gives you 212HP at the wheels with the stock 265HP rating.

If you added the K&N and exhaust why did your peak HP go down the rpm range. The X is rated 265@5600rpm and 284@4000rpm.

Yeah ... late summer of 2008! I'd be supprised if their lift even came out by late summer. I was told three weeks about six weeks ago. Glad I researched and went with SLR. Then again I don't have the lift in my hands from SLR. [LOL]

Pilmo, go to this site how stuff works to learn how the internal combustion engine works.

Horsepower question... RPM range... someone needs to take physics over again.... Horsepower is not higher at lower RPM's...

POWER = Work/Time

As RPM increase work increases and time decreases (IE: the crank turns more times per minute... hence the RPM-revolutions per minute!) Tourque on the other hand is greater in the lower RPM range on most trucks due to gearing and it represents the rotational FORCE which we use to get out of deep sand/mud or haul a load etc... make sense?

Odd... you can go to how stuff works or simply KNOW how stuff works.... as RPM goes up so does horse power.... it's simple physics

I can definetly tell your an idiot. I just installed the same two items on my X and I can tell you I have been in a 300HP suv, and adding those 2 mods made it no where near 300 hp. I wouls probably bet about 225-230 whp.

Any noticeable difference in terms of performance with the intake and exhaust? Did you do the headers as well?
