I just wanted to verify advice I just received (sorry Roscoe if you happen to read this).

I broke a lug bolt on my wife's mustang last night. Someone just told me that the bolts are simply held in by friction and that I take a hammer and chisel and bang out the old one and tap in a new one. Does this sound right?

Thanks.

that's right, but dont forget to put a spacer or stack of washers over the new one, then use the lug nut to tighten the new bolt onto the rotor...

The way I read that is he's advising you to stack a bunch of washers around the bolt until there are only a couple of threads of the end of the bolt showing, then tighten the lug nut down against them to seat the new lug bolt. This would be less stressful on the new lug bolt than hammering it in from the back.

Or I'm totally wrong, but that would seem to make sense... wink

Oh yeah?!?! Well I'm going to H-town and Jim's helping me put it on, anyway! [Finger] BTW... how'd that bolt work out for you? Hope everything went ok and the wife didn't give you too much hell about working on her car...
