Just thought id mention that I installed a U-haul hitch on my 04 X. It came with frame stiffeners, and took me a whole 15 min to install. Didnt have to remove the bumper or lower the spare. 119.00 at U-haul.

i had to lower the spare but that just made things easier. and i really dont think those are frame stiffeners. they are more than likely just pieces of metal that the carriage bolts can lock into so you can actually tighten the nut down.

where'd u get the little ball and the piece that goes into the hitch because i can't find a little kit, i have to buy all the pieces seperate... i tried wally world, advanced auto, and pep boys..

Any camper dealer will have what you need. Concerning the stiffeners, your right, they are just for the carriage bolts to lock into, but thats fine, I installed the hitch to i can use the carrier that I got for Xmas. I dont plan on towing anything anytime soon. Plus, even if I do tow, it wont be a heavy trailer, so I wouldnt need the stiffeners anyway.
