i got the console off!! i took the 4x4 shifter off, i unscrewed the two bolts on the automatic shifter, pull on it, asn wham!! everything came apart!! a white wire came up through the auto shifter pole, which i think i can feed back down, but there seems to be a second white wire that is barely up through the black part where it reads reverse, neutral,etc that isn't connect to anything!! worried! havcen't tried to put it back together yet, still working on original project!! help! any ideas! thanks

I've taken off mine several times, but can't help you, mine is a manual. What the heck are you working on ? They might be an easier way.. Good luck.

It sounds like the wires you are talking about are for the overdrive switch. You must have pulled the wires from the switch or from the plug. It's a little hard to say without looking at it, but there should be a plug somewhere around the shift plate. I haven't had mine appart but I have had shifters appart on other cars and trucks.
