Thank God for Cal and Oregon State. Now if the Wraps can pull of a win the Pac-10 will at least get back to .500. Hopefully UO's woeful ending won't kill off what's been a superb recruiting class. Word is one of our commits (Gildon) is tripping to USC soon. Never a good sign... [Uh Oh !]

Woodson had a pretty good game.

My guess is because of textbook HOLDING like this...

One word, four syllables, first two syllables: o-ver..

Can't stop this:

Boise State V. Ok. was one of the most amazing games I've ever seen.

And after seeing Michigan get waxed by SC and Big Blue handling the Sooners I wouldn't bet big against Boise if they faced Ohio State in a matchup of undefeateds. As it is I wonder if Michigan was lucky getting as close as they did to O State or are they equally overrated?

Could the Buckeys be headed for a blowout at the hands of FU?

Ditto...

That had to be one of the greatest college football bowl games I've ever seen...

For those of you who missed it, Si.com summed it up nicely...

Quote:
To think, in the final 18 seconds of regulation and overtime alone, we saw a hook-and-ladder (Jerard Rabb’s game-tying, 50-yard touchdown to send the game to OT), a direct snap to a receiver (Vinny Perretta’s 5-yard touchdown pass in overtime) and the game-winning, soon-to-be-immortal Statue of Liberty two-point conversion in which QB Jared Zabransky faked a screen pass to the right, then handed off to Johnson on a run left.

And that wasn’t even the extent of the late-game drama. Oklahoma’s three two-point conversion attempts to tie. Zabransky’s near-fatal interception that Marcus Walker returned for a touchdown. And of course, Johnson’s nationally televised proposal to his cheerleader girlfriend afterward.

All of it combined to produce an indisputable, all-time classic.

The Fiesta was an epic game. Best college game I've seen in years. Living in the NW, I've been growing pretty weary of the blue and orange kool-aid everybody's been drinking, but after last night they deserve some gloat time.

Seeing them beat the pOUters was just icing on the cake. I guess this means WAC > Big 12. [LOL]

Excellent game! [ThumbsUp] I kept saying that I needed to get to bed since I had to get back to work in the morning, but it continued to draw me back in. I couldn't turn it off. On 4th in 18, I'd like to admit that I called for the hook and ladder. I just didn't expect it to go for a td, just enough to sucker OU to giving up the 18. The two trick plays in OT were sick and they made it look like that's all they practiced. I don't know why more teams don't at least try them. Leach used to, but he no longer does. frown

Another no-show from the Irish and the record continues. 9 bowl losses in a row. Sure, Notre Dame gets preferential treatment, is on TV alot more than everyone else, etc. but the haters must love how they get horrible matchups every bowl season and thrown in games they shouldn't be in.

Not really, as it isn't fair to other teams. This year there wasn't really anybody that should have gone ahead of them, however, so I didn't have a problem with them getting in. I guess it was kind of fun watching them get their asses handed to them on a silver platter (yet again). laugh

I bet they're preseason top 10 again next season.

Actually, Wisconson deserved it more than ND did, but rules prevented that

I wouldn't doubt if they were a top 10 team. [Freak]

A funny play off of one of those Bud Light ads...

Quote:
Today we salute you, Mr. Delusional Notre Dame Fan. (Mr. Delusional Notre Dame Faaaaaan!)

Season after season, year after year, you try to justify your absurdly high preseason ranking. (Clutching at straws!)

Season after season, year after year, you scramble to make futile attempts at damage control when the Irish lose to a grossly inferior opponent (How'd Navy score fifty fouuuuuur?)

Inevitably, you'll bring up the past, and boast of National Championships won 40 years before you were born. (Those were the daaaaaays!)

You will point out that you have more wins than any other program as though that is relevant to the current season. (Been playing since the 1870s!)

Go on, ignore that home loss to your archrivals in the regular season finale and continue to believe that you'll defeat your bowl op ponent with striking ease. (We'll win by thirteeeeeeey!)

So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, oh Emperor of Excuses, and take comfort knowing that when you don't finish in the top 25, you'll be back to number three when the preseason polls come out next year. (Mr. Delusional Notre Dame Fan!)

[Spit] That's pretty funny.

Someone brought this up on my Texas Tech board out of all places and how true it is:
Quote:
All of the reasons I have ever heard are absurd:

(1) They have a Catholic following. (So what? I'm a Baptist, and, although I am a Texas Tech fanatic, I also kinda like Baylor and Hardin-Simmons; WHO CARES?)

(2) They negotiated their own TV contract. (So what? More power to them! If we could do it at Tech, I'd love it! Blame NBC, not ND.)

(3) They get special treatment from the BCS under their special arrangement. (So what? Blame the BCS, not ND.)

(4) They get slaps on the hand for any NCAA violations. (Blame the NCAA, not ND.)

(5) They milk the laurels of their storied history. (SO WHAT??!!! They'd be foolish not to.)

etc. etc. etc.

Most of the so-called "reasons" I've ever heard for people hating Notre Dame boil down to just one word: JEALOUSY.

I like Notre Dame just fine; they are an integral part of college football traditon, and I admire who and what they are.
[ThumbsUp]

Sometimes it's better to be good than lucky. laugh

Could it be that the Big 10 was just heavily overrated all season?

Not just beaten. Not just bested. Not just putting up an "L". Embarrased. Ridiculed on the field. Manhandled.

But as The Man (that'd be me laugh ) said, " BLOWN OUT."

Which is why I picked Florida. This had media "upset" written all over it. Now, if I only could pick the other bowls, maybe I'd win something someday.
