Was about to hit the order button on courtesy parts when i remember rockauto.com i can get all of the parts in a non-nissan brand for about 150 where the nissans are 300. Any reason i should stick with the factory parts?

personally, I look at it this way, the Nissan Parts that came on it, lasted this long, right? seeing as this is probably going to be a one time job (maybe two if you keep the X long enough) I would much rather put the parts on that have been provem to work for that many miles on that engine rather than buy someone elses stuff, not knowing the track record. The cost, yeah, maybe twice as much for Nissan parts, but again I refer back to my first comment, I would sooner pay 300 and have a piece of mind knowing the parts can last, rather than pay half that now, and wonderin if I am going to have to tear it back apart and replace parts a year or two down the road at an even higher cost. Plus the chance that you might get parts that dont fit right from the other guy, compared to being able to go as far as give a vin number to Courtesy to make sure the parts are exact if need be.........
Just my 02 cents....

Chickened out totally. Biting the bullet and the 1050 and having nissan do it. X is 8yrs old with 99k on it. My wife and i are driving to Florida in it. Going to see the mouse in Orlando. Also not into worrying about it to and from Disney. Dont have the time do it myself.
I wonder if my dealer will do it with the courtesy parts. They are way cheaper.

simple, you call the dealer and after getting a quote for them to do the job, you ask, how much it would cost if you supply all the parts.
Plus you gotta wonder, if you want it done at a dealer, it may take a day or three to get the appointment, then might be two days at the dealer. There is two to five days already, if you supply the parts, longer wait till parts come in, IF they dont have all the parts, longer wait (providing they dont cheat and let some parts in there, I never trusted dealers). Now you could be up to 7 days invested,.... if its your first time doing something like this, you could take your time and have it done in 6 to 8 hours from the time you get the parts in hand, and save over 600 bucks.

e207 i know and i am kind of beat up at the thought of taking it in for something i can feesibly do myself. However im outta time and really a little apprehensive about be able to get it all back together correctly. Ive done lots on the truck already i guess this is all my savings in working on her myself.
Dealer said 2 days. Free rental car. An while its $1000 bucks when i called they stated they will be doing all the items listed in the courtesyparts.com kit. Other places wanted 850 for just belt and pump.

I just did mine today, make sure they change the two small coolant hoses that are exposed when doing this work. They are part number 14055 and 14055M on the 2002 V6 w/o SC. http://www.courtesyparts.com/14055-hose-...?cPath=532& and http://www.courtesyparts.com/14055m-hose...ged-p-6433.html Those two aren't part of the Courtesy Parts kit but I think it would be nice if they were part of it. Oh well, this was my second time doing this on my XTerra and it will be the last, so it won't matter for me in the future. Edited to add: I also did the upper and lower radiator hoses and the power steering pump (mine had a terrible whine to it, picked up a used one off ebay for $100) this time. I considered doing the alternator, but decided to gamble on that. I just need this vehicle to get me to February 2012 which is when I will replace it.
