Hey all...new to site and just bought an 06 X. Currently it has BFG long trail tires on it. They are still in decent shape but im wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a better tire in the future. I don't do serious off roading but I am a hunter and fisherman so the X will be spending some time on moderate trails. Im looking for a tire that works great off road as well as a smooth and stable ride on the pavement. Any suggestions? Are the BFG Long trail tires ideal for my needs? Any ideas would be appreciated.

RTFB (read the f**cking board) -- Questions just like this must have been asked dozens of time. I think I can safely say that most people here would suggest the BFG A/T K/O. Pretty good off road, good on-road manners, and long life.

X2 on the BFG AT/KO's. Can't say enough good about 'em. Plus, they are one of the very few AT tires that come with a warranty... Worth the money.

One suggestion though. Check prices and sizes. The stock tires for my '03 was 265/70R16's. I went with the 265/75R16's because not only were they an inch taller, they were ~$75 cheaper PER TIRE. Found out they are a more common size. So check prices against sizes. Could save you a bunch of $$$.

Oh, and BTW - DO A SEARCH! (You'll get killed on here if you don't search FIRST!)

I don't like BFG's. Any of them. I'll probably be sorry I said that later but it's true.
I've had good luck with Nitto Terra Grapplers. They are reasonably priced and still look good while providing a quiet ride. I really like my current selection of goodyear duratracs. I don't think they will last anywhere near as long as the nittos because of how soft they are though.

Just bought my first set of Nittos (Nitto Trail Grappler MT's) I am amazed at how quiet they are for the tread size. Was on some really tough trails this past weekend after the bad storms that came through here (NC area) and tires got me out of some really slick areas of mud.

Seems like you need a minor lift or some excessive trimming done to the front bumper and mud guards (removed these) in order to actually be able to turn corners or hit dips without rubbing with the 265/75s... Yikes missing plastic, lol.

Nope...stock ht 1st gen X's can fit 265/75/16's with only some plastic trimming in the front wells, where the lower mud flaps used to screw into.

laugh

Its the STOCK size on the 200%+ OR's btw.
