My search for winter tires for my 2009X has brought me to a decent deal for a set of Blizzak DMZ3's. Only thing wrong is that the rims they are on do not come with the TPMS.

For the duration of the winter season, is there any way of turning off the warning light? It is quite anoying to look at for the next 4 or 5 months! Maybe a fuse being pulled temporarily??

Any help appreciated.
I have checked the forums and found nothing that speaks about turning it off, just issues with TPMS.

What about just having the tires mounted on the OEM rims?

Or getting a programmer, and re-setting the PSI?

I hear black electrical tape works to cover the light.

I like the convenience of having a second full set of wheels to make the swap easier every year.

What do you mean by programmer to reset the PSI?
Please explain.

I have a ScanGuageII. Do you mean to clear it with that?
Thanks

The reason the TPMS light is on is because the system is looking for the sensors RF signal and it is not present.

If the system is reset the light will go off but when the system realizes the sensors are not present the light will come again.

Your options are.

1. as mentioned by another post, black tape over the light

2. mount the snow tires on the wheels with the sensors

3. obtain another set of sensors($ 80.00 each @ the dealer) and install them on you snow wheels and get them programmed(dealer will need to program) to the vehicle, of course when you switch back next spring those sensors will need to be programmed to the system.

These tire sensors sure do seem like a waste of money and time!
Guess the yellow light will be on all winter!

I can respect that, they can be a pain in the azz .

We can thank Ford Motor Company, The Ford Exploder ... I mean Explorer , BF Goodrich and the Federal Government for making the TPMS mandatory on vehicles these days.
