Two years ago, when my 2005 was reaching 100K miles, I replaced the primary timing chain with an aftermarket kit. (I didn't have time to do the secondary chains, so I just left them as they were.) About a year ago the new tensioners failed, so I had someone replace the new tensioners with the old ones, and since then the truck has been running fine. My question is, how concerned I should be about having a new timing chain, but old tensioners? One mechanic told me that I shouldn't worry about it, and that the old tensioners should last a while, but I'm not sure how much to trust his judgement. The old tensioners now have 105,000 on them.
