Trying to figure out how to remove the 3.3 in my 2000. There doesn't seem to be any way to get at the torque converter/flywheel bolts without removing the oil pan. Can the engine and trans be removed as a unit or can I pull out the torque converter with the engine?

Unbolting the transmission bell housing from the engine block is a no brainer but to access the bolts that hold the transmissions torque converter to the flexplate you'll need to get the starter out of the way and that large bracket.

You'll be able to access them through the starter hole, there will be 4 of them and you'll need a 14mm socket.

Good discussion. I'm beginning to pull the motor from my 2000 today.
