a friend of mine got some of those cheap (blue lens) fog lights to put on his 2004 X since it didnt come with them. either from walmart or autozone. thats about as good as you can get w/o spending alot of money they if one breaks for some reason, it wont be so expensive to replace.

I was asking the same question the other day at the auto parts store. A friend of mine who has an XJ works there.

He told me that he put a cheap brand of fog lights on his jeep. When they were hot and got wet (from going through a puddle) the glass cracked.

I don't know if this would only happen with the cheap ones but it's something to think about.

Or you could make sure you don't go through puddles when the lights are hot smile

I got a pair of the cheap ones from walmart. One water crossing and I was wishing I had the better ones.

I bought the PIAA 510 Driving Light. I really wish i would of gone with 520s though. If you can afford it, a great upgrade indeed in my opinion. Not sure bout the fog lights though. But i konw many are happy with PIAAs [ThumbsUp]

ive got the 520 Ion fogs. great lights. i love em. if you stand infront of the truck, they look white but they shine and reflect yellow. they are wide angle and the light up the sides really well. like driving down the interstate at night, i can light up my side, the median and the other side well enough to see. my truck sits a little high in the front for now(fixing it sunday) so they bounce back some in the fog, but its not that bad. they're great for driving in the rain and snow too. sometimes i just turn those on and turn my headlights off and ride around.

PHXX, i went wit the fogs becuase i already got the long distance covered with piaa p-9000 ring lamps (amazing amount of light and distance).
Now its time for some close up side to side light.

zuzuman, at the location i am mounting them (stock bumper holes) Will i need to turn them off for oncomming traffic? How bright are yours?

I have the blinglights on my X and they are pretty sweet. No problems and they have lasted through water, unlike those walmart ones from above. Let me know if you want pics

Yanky,

If the PIAA's are anything close to the Hella 500's I have mounted under my bumper, you'll definately need to turn them off for oncoming traffic. Unless of course you want them to head for the ditch and crash. But then again, you'd have it all lit up so you could watch the show! wink

No wait, yours are fogs... frown nevermind...

zuzuman, i bought the 510's, not the 520's
The 510's just fit with the stone guard on but i took it off becuase i couldnt adjust the light up or down at all. The stone guards on the 520 seem to block some light also that could go out to the side. I will see the difference tonight.

Gonzo, could you please post a pic of how you mounted the Hella 500's under your bumper?

I have a set but haven't yet figured out how to mount them on the stock plastic bumper cover.

Thanks!

Pilot automotive makes some pretty good lights at affordable prices. I've run a couple different sets and been happy with them. My local autozone carries them , think I paid ~$30 for the pair I have on my toyota.
