So... I guess everyone ditches the factory fog lights when they put an ARB bullbar on, or are folks mounting them somewhere I haven't seen yet?
About the wiring: Are folks using the same wiring from the existing fog lights to hook up other lights on their ARB?
Just curious.. any other lighting mods and info would be welcome in this thread just in case I missed anything along the way.

I followed XOC's idea about mounting the factory lights below the ARB. You just have to drill a small hole and mount the lights. The factory lights don't really do much but help you been seen. ------------------ rhombus -- SOXC Member www.soxc.org

my PIAA 1550s are sitting in the garage until i can find a place for them that is protected from the trails, which i have yet to see. i may make some sort of a box that brackets to the bar and atleast provides some protection from the underside. not sure yet. gothamist just had his bar modified this weekend to go where the directionals are like Pikachu's but gothamist has some sort of cage for protection. he says he will be posting pics tomorrow or so. I will let him fill you as to not steal his thunder. as for using the fog light wiring for other lights, no. most people i seen if they have IPFs or PIAA driving lights use the wiring harnesses those lights supply because they want to eventually put fog lights back on. ------------------ Synchro (aka Kirk) 2000 Xterra SE, Alpine Green, 4x4, ARB, 32" BFG MTs

I agree about protection. i really don't care about the Fog lights but hated the fact that i had no were to put them. They are tucked pretty far back and won;t take any straight on impact. From the side might be a different issuse. I also they are sitting low if I hit some water. Good enough for now (winter no puddles ) ------------------ rhombus -- SOXC Member www.soxc.org

I took out one of those little tabs this weekend on a really tough stream crossing (big rock pile on the other side.) I was glad my fogs weren't there... But indeed, I will post pics of the way mine are mounted shortly (Pikachu, Eric (president of Skid-Row) and myself came up with the idea around 10pm Friday...it's vaguely Mad-Max inspired. ) ------------------ gothamist -- MAXC member http://www.beatdriven.com/xterra.html

Ian.. I did not hit the "hurry up I can't wait button" so I do not know what was going on.. weird.. It was not a rock that I hit it was a tree branch that the tire kicked up after rolling onto it. ------------------ Southwestern Xterra Club Dallas, Texas clubinfo@swxc.org http://swxc.org

Well, I crunched that little piece of the body on a rock...it was a stream bed I had to pull out of, the rocks were big but manageable (I had to slide on my skids a bit but I made it.) ------------------ gothamist -- MAXC member http://www.beatdriven.com/xterra.html

I realized I said I would post pics of my foglight mounting on my ARB. Well they didn't really turn out okay, but you can sort of see it in this pic from last weekend. (They are mounted in the directional holes of the ARB, and there are pirated U-bolts welded in front of them to protect them.) ------------------ gothamist -- MAXC member http://www.beatdriven.com/xterra.html

Gothamist, since it's brought up here, may I ask you what kind of fog lights you used?

The ones in the directional holes for the ARB are PIAA 1500XT's, in the clear fog pattern. I love them--they work great as highway driving lights, since they don't blind anyone (that I can tell) and really fill in the lowbeams. Synchro was the guy who turned me onto them, and he's right...the PIAA Superwhite bulbs and 1500XTs make an awesome general onroad driving setup. ------------------ gothamist -- MAXC member http://www.beatdriven.com/xterra.html
