Where (if any) can I find a box that will fit ->in between<- the crossbars and sidebars on the Roof rack (in the back section, not where the basket is), not on top like the Yakima boxes, but a low profile one that would NOT be higher than the roof rack itself (except for the mounts that hold it in place that is). I know that this would not be a big box, but would come in handy containing the things I don't want to keep inside the Xterra. I guess what I am asking for is a covered basket (like the one over the front seats) for the back of the vehicle.... Confused? Got any Ideas? E-mail me at x_terra@excite.com....
Thanks......

What you're describing sounds like something custom. I've never seen anything like what you want, perhaps others have?
If you do have one custom made, and it ends up being inexpensive, and looks and performs well, there are probably a lot of people on this board who would be interested in something similar (including me!).

Rubbermaid makes some "low profile" sealed boxes. Most are long and narrow. I'm trying to find one or two seperate boxes that will accomplish the same thing you are thinking of. I plan on putting down the rubber roof rib "pads" available at www.xterraparts.com, and using a cargo net to hold them down at cruising speed.
