Anyone ever done it? Like the yakima one that sells for $300 or so. Thinking wire shelving of something along that line.

Ideas?

After I get time to put my BL and sliders on....that is my next project, I was just gonna wonder around Lowe's or Home Depot till I got a brain storm....post up some pics if you get it together.

if you look around there are a few of us that have made our own roof baskets, some that are larger and take up the entire roof by replacing the factory rails. Some of them are smaller and utilize the factory rails, but not the cross bars.

I would actually like a basket that sets into the factor rails, but doesn't need the crossbars. I remember seeing a thread where someone made one out of square tubing. I want the basket area to hold loose equipment, but I want my current yakima rack on there too, so I can have my boats on. Attaching the rack on top of the LoadWarrior seems just silly.

The square one is mine, really just a box hanging under another box. Mine is short enough so that the factory roof basket is still useable.

Courtesy Nissan (sponsor plug) has an end of summer sale going on with the LandWarrior for 20% off their regular price.

$221.31

That said I went with the smaller wire basket from them for $100 and change which is basically the same strength as wire shelving. I was concerned about clearing the garage once I lift a couple of inches.

BPC, check out the Raingler net if that is all that is required. It works to protect the roof and works like designed.

I frequently walk on my roof, take pictures with a tripod. I am 245 lb and I also have placed 1" thick plywood on the roof rack itself and it carries me fine.
