I just ordered a winch for my 'X' (XD9000)

Should I have a shop do the install or is this something that I might be able to do myself?

I have an ARB, does this have to come off for the install? Or does it just make it easier?

Thanks

It should just bolt on to the ARB.

I was thinking more about hooking it up to a power source

If I was not going to do that I would just spray paint a box of tissure paper and be all set.

I just installed my winch on my (already installed) ARB. It was easy to mount and run power. You're running the power straight to the battery.

One thing to note as your installing the winch: hook up the ground wire from the solenoid before tightening the winch to the ARB. Once it is tightened down, there is not a lot of room.

When you get it, you'll see what I mean...

There are written directions with the winch.

Sorry for the possible dumb question.

Did you take the ARB offf for the install or not?

Thanks,

Your ARB should have instructions on installing the winch. (especially on rotating the clutch handle)

Pull the ARB. It will be much easier to install. Make sure you put on any ARB mounted lights you want before doing the winch install.

The solenoid ground advice is a good one.

Make sure you have some friends to help hold the winch and ARB as it weighs a lot more now.

I left my ARB on. I had a buddy tighten the bolts while I held the winch up. I preferred that method versus reinstalling the ARB with an additional 70+ lbs.
