I purchased a copy of Topo USA 3.0 from CompUSA and received it Monday. My initial impression of the software is good. The user interface and navigation tools take some time to get used to. The automatic routing features are very nice, and the map quality is pretty good, but not quite to the level of USGS topo quads of course. For $60 + Tax and Shipping, it was more than worth it.

I now have routes mapped for the Rich Mountain WMA in Georgia and the Naches trail in Washington.

I still want National Geographic TOPO! though!
