New OHV area in East Tennessee

Coal Creek Mining and Manufacturing Company (CCMMC) would like to announce the creation of the Windrock Coal Creek Recreation Area (WCCRA). It is a 72,000 acre, multi-use facility with over 250 miles of trails for the enjoyment of ATVs, Motor Cycles, Jeeps, 4x4s, Rail-buggies, Mountain Bikes, Equestrians and Hikers.

CCMMC is utilizing the services of the Windrock ATV Club as consultants in the preparation, management, and maintenance of the facility. All trail-related activities will be coordinated through Windrock ATV Club.

The WCCRA will be open for use by a land-use permit system. All vehicles within the WCCRA borders will be required to have a permit sticker. To acquire a sticker, the purchaser will be required to sign a waiver stating they have read and will obey the rules of the area and also sign a liability waiver. Permit stickers are available on a yearly basis for $50, a weekend for $15 or a day for $10. These permits may be required for horses and hikers and will be required by all vehicles starting January 1, 2001.

The WCCRA land is located in four counties: Anderson, Morgan, Roane and Scott. It runs from Harriman to Carryville just north of Oliver Springs and Lake City. The area contains many historic sites, vistas and overlooks, and a wealth of wildlife. WCCRA is the southern boundary for TWRA's reintroduction of Elk in East Tennessee.

The WCCRA has several on-going enterprises that may require some trails not be used for recreation on a periodic or permanent basis due to safety concerns. These trails will be clearly marked and everyone is asked to obey the signs. Most of these trails will be relocated around the unsafe area to allow for continued use. Trail maps do not currently exist but GPS mapping is underway.

I doubt I will be making it there before I leave. frown I know that SEXC might be thinking about making a trip there.

It would be pretty conveinient for the Kentucky people to go to this thing too. Coould also be a prime place for a gathering of Nissans like the Nissannet trailride.

How far is the Off road area from Johnson city TN (located as far north east as you can go in TN). I go there from ST LOUIS all the time too, thats where i lived before the military.

Windrock is about half an hour west of Knoxville, which is 90 minutes SW of Johnson City, so about 2 hours away. Royal Blue is probably 60-90 minutes away from Johnson City, north of Knoxville.
