I'm planning a trip to EP, CO in April/May 2002. Any ideas on fun places to take the X? I am new to off-roading so I wouldn't want to push it too hard. We will have one week. We plan to do a little skiing while in CO too. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Winter Park is the closest resort skiing to Estes Park. It is on highway 40 which runs along the western side of Estes Park.

Your wheeling options are limited because snow seems to hang around forever in the mountains. More than likely no trails will be open. Late May is the very earliest to go wheeling and you will still encounter snowfields to negotiate and snow blocked trails.

I think the link between Estes and Winter Park is Trail Ridge Road - which will be closed at that time of year.

Eldora might be the only ski area within 2 hours of Estes Park.

Ugh, ok ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK (which borders Estes Park) is bordered by highway 40, picky picky.

Oh yeah, Eldora blows. Want a 20 minute lift ride for 5 minute ski ride? Didn't think so. Plus it usually closes in mid-April.
