I've never had a problem with this truck until now. I was in the snow/pavement mix yeserday in 4wd and the steering moved wildly from side to side under even slight acceleration. So bad in fact that I checked to see if I had a flat.
No noises, no grinding, everything appears to be tight. It has a 3" suspension lift and 76k miles. I have an Idler arm brace also. Is this possibly a bad centerlink/idler problem being magnified by being in 4wd?

Would a worn centerlink allow that much erratic movement?

Yes. I have experienced it.

I'm finally back in my lane on a consistent basis. [Wave]

Oh yeah - My truck is really crazy in 4wd, and my centerlink is toast. We just had a little snow and ice and I left it in 2wd because the front wheels are fighting over each other... frown

Yes, this is why I'm buying the Calmini Steering System first before I put in a lift.

I guess I can't complain too much, its had the lift on since 12k miles. Its been to Moab twice as well as countless miles of other 4wd crap.
Rfritz, you're right on with your discription of how it behaves...its like the front tires are fighting with each other!!

I've have someone watch while it's happening to be sure it's the centerlink. Could just be that the front tires are alternately finding traction as the surface varies and power shifts back and forth across the diff...
