It's not surprising. Obama's comments reveal an elitism and deep disdain for average everyday Americans. Most especially white rural Americans.

"And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

He was also calling working class white people racists.

Surprising comments considering Obama clung to a church for the last 20 years that preached hate and antipathy towards anyone not like them. Meaning non-blacks.

He gave that speech to a bunch of extremely wealthy San Francisco lefty's at the Pacific Heights mansion of billionaire couple Ann and Gordon Getty.
