I took my daughter up to University of Rhode Island this weekend for a "Welcoming Brunch"; we live on Long Island, NY. The "X" with 2 people aboard and cruising at about 68 mph for the better part of the 166 mile trip got 16.8 mpg. What are some the mpg's other owners have seen on the highway?

Please, with all due respect...no more Gas Mileage threads....look on page 2 on the "general" forum, they have plenty of info on this Topic...

I know I know its been posted before but not everyone has time to search multiple threads.

And because he asked in a nice way.

I get 17.6 mpg highway going from hartford CT to Augusta Maine. (all highway miles)

When my girlfriend drives the same trip with the same truck she gets 20.2mpg.

the reason fpr the difference is that she drivers nicer than I do. I like to go 75+ and pass everyone I can. she goes 65 on the dot and slows down going up hill.

One other point of interest is CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE!!!
it seems silly but 1 of my tries was 10lbs under inflated and I made the same trip Hartford CT to Augusta ME and I got 15mpg and I was trying to drive like my girlfriend (just to prove my driving style theory.) When I got to maine I noticed the left rear tire was a little low I fixed that and on the way home got 19mpg

Anyway - whats the problem? You getting pretty good average mpg for X - nearly same as posted on sticker. Specially considering that you driving it out of recommended speed range.

On a side note:

We got to Moab and back last weekend, with some back/off/road driving about - cut it to 374 miles total. It all was made on 16.5 gallons of petrol.
(got full tank before left Durango, and then had to add 8.4 gallons in Moab)

I've gotten over 24MPG on the highway. But then again, I've got a 4-Banger!

I had the injectors cleaned, put in synthetic oil and started driving 75 instead of 80 and went from 235 miles per tank to 296 miles per tank. That is a huge pick up for such simple changes,
