#416112 - 04/04/07 10:08 AM Cat. converter price differences/fitting?

Ok, so I need to replace my cats. I looked around and the dealer wants $400 something per cat, which is insane. I found a place that manufactures a diret fit for $250.

Here's the kicker: I found THIS link.

If you scroll down a little bit you'll find that some cats for the X they sell for around $200 something and there's one they say fits 2000-2004 that costs $60 some bucks.

What gives? Anyone know why there's such a price difference?

I'm suspecing that those may not be a direct fit, but since the X's cats are right after the manifolds they can't be cut with a generic cat welded back on to the pipe, right?

I need a little bit more insight on this...

Thanks.

Couldn't you get an adapter that would clamp on or weld on to the cat?

There are two cats on the Xterra, aren't there? Thats what I would want too, now I just need a pipe bender and some stainless steel and I'm good to go!
Thanks for the link, Dagger! [Wave]

There are two, four if you have California emissions as I have, but I will be going to federal emissions standards.
