So... were inside the Xterra did you put the switch for the compressor and the switch to lock the axle? By the power port? In front of or behind the transfer case shifter? In front of or behind the automatic transmission? Enquiring minds want to know. Pictures would be great. ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif)

Most installations I have seen (including mine) have put the switches in the opening below the cigarette lighter.
Warmonger put his closer to driver's reach by the transfer case lever as I recall.

I put the switches to the left of the steering wheel on either side of the rear windshield wiper switch. One was just a cover and one was the security LED. I emailed you a photo.

Same as stormy... to the left of the steering wheel: One open switch spot, replaced the security light, and cut out a new spot next to the other switches.
The next question is where to you put the compressor under the hood? We had to pull out a factory bracket to mount the thing.

Best place I see is the remove the bracket between the airbox and the ABS controller over the LF fender. Only 3 or 4 small things to relocate for that huge bracket. The blind resonator from the intake below it can also go, just plug the hole where it joined the main intake.

The compressor fits very nicely just in front of the right side firewall - make a custom bracket to fit on the fender well and move the security horn.

Toy Man Any pictures? I have heard of this as a possible location! I have a SE with cruise control. Some people with XE's have put it in location the cruise would go... one with a SE have any pictures? Leaving for GOX3 in three hours... I will try to check out the Xterra's who have installed ARB locker. My lockers were going to be installed on Thursday but... the shop jumped the charge from $400 to $1,000 when I got there. ![mad mad](/forums/images/graemlins/default/mad.gif)

[/b]Nope, haven't had the time or initiative to install mine yet, but it looks more comfortable than Toy Man's location. Both are perfectly suitable though, and I know a few that have put their in the spot he mentioned. Brent

No picture, but I saw one installed inside (off to one side) a ARB bumper. That's where I'll put mine if I install one. I don't see it fitting under "my" hood without some serious reorganization. Maybe your Calmini has room inside. I also like the idea of using a Power Tank, alot less plumbing. Good luck and be sure to give us a update on how the install goes.

I have a larger Thomas compressor mounted inside the ARB Bullbar. Used the trailer hitch tubing, 32" of 4" plastic pipe and two 2-1/2 gallon fire extinguishers for resevoirs. I can take/post pics if wanted. Rock on!

LAX, I'm planning on mounting a QUICKAIR2 compressor inside the ARB bumper. You should be able to do the same with the CALMINI.

Toy Man The 2001's are a little different. They have no second horn, BUT have the other fuse box that will get in the way. I am trying to figure if I will just power my locker with my PowerTank or get the ARB compressor? I do have room on the intake(drivers) side since I got rid of all the crap for the stock intake!! ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif)

![confused confused](/forums/images/graemlins/default/confused.gif) Yes.. pictures please. Originally posted by Snoopy: LAX, I'm planning on mounting a QUICKAIR2 compressor inside the ARB bumper. Tupperware and a compressor "snorkel" is the only way I can think of to keep it free of water inside/underside of the bumper. ![[Geek]](graemlins/geek.gif)

So Cary, Ya gonna do it? A locker is soooo cool. Its kinda like cheating a bit. Stuck? No problem, just push the button!
Post install pics of the process if you can. Especially of taking the ring and pinion out, stuffing the arb into place and routing the air line inside the housing. Then pics of the final realignment of the ring and pinion again.

I used a piece of angle iron (galvanized) There are some pretapped holes just below where I mounted the compressor. I also used another piece of steel for a cross brace to stabalize movement. If you do not have cruise control this type of install is rather simple.

The ARB compressor should fit in the space between the airbox and the ABS actuator over the driver's side wheel arch. There's a very clumsy, bulky bracket in that space that holds about 3 easily relocatable vacuum lines and harnesses. Yank the bracket and the blind resonator off the intake that is underneath it and you've got plenty of room to work with. Edit - duh, I already mentioned this Brent
