Gotta slider question...

I installed my sliders today, it went great except one part... I bolted all the bolts up got it where it needed to be and then made sure the notched end was at the rear and began tightening, the rear bolts are tight but the slider is not up against the frame. They rear is pushed out because of a weld at the rear, its only pushed out about 1/8 of an inch but enough to notice when your on your back under the x. Is this bad what should I do the notched end didnt go around the weld.... LMK Thanks Moderators sorry if this is wrong section not sure where it goes

If it is tight and does not flex it should be ok. But ideally you would want them flat against the frame.

Either way, the'll still end up bending if you really use them.
Welding them on is far superior.

Ok they work great, however noticed while on rough roads, there was a vibration and clunking noise....
Everything is tight BUT
The slider is right up against the body and I could see it was visually rubbing i.e. marks on sliders
So I tried to move the slider down and the bolts would not allow me to move it down at all, it can only stay up against the little body tab underneath
what should i do? hammer it? Please help

Hammer will work. Or if you wait long enough it will hammer itself clear.

It will just push the seem up that it hits on. Wont harm anything. Did the same thing on mine and a few others I know of. Now I have three 2" dents on the same seam on each side.

I'm going to do a 2" BL soon myself. I was waiting to order sliders for the 2" lift. Would I be better off getting the standard sliders and if so, why?

if you've already got the 3" SL, the standard sliders might make a nice little step up for some people since it'll be getting pretty high

Get standart sliders if you want the little step that it provides. Get the ones for a 2" BL if you don't want gaps. Shrockworks are the only sliders made to accomodate a 2" BL or any BL at all.

I did SEARCH... but came away with the impression that the even with the body lift specific sliders there is still room to use tham as a step. What I guess I'm asking, since it seems unclear, is that is going to be enough step, or do I need to get the standard sliders & sacrifice some clearance & protection for a 'step'? For the record, I have a 7 year-old. I've left the step rails on for her benefit (and access to the roof rack). I guess worst case I can hang a rope ladder off the roof rack so she can climb up.

if you get the "standard" sliders you will not lose any clearance. for 1, your frame is still in the same place as it was before the bl. and 2, your rear diff will still be just as low as it was before the bl. if you get the bl sliders you will not gain any clearance either, it will just cover the gap that is caused by the BL.
so if your trying to maintain a step for you child then you need to get the "standard" sliders. if you get the BL sliders then there will be 2" more that your little girl will have to climb up.
hope that helps. if you would have eplained your REAL concern in your first post, i probably would have not told you to search.

Got another question for you guys...
I've seen an xterra with strips of what seems like duraliner maybe on the sliders to protect the powder coat from constant step scratches...
Would something like this be a custom application or a simple stick on kit, whoever did it on here did a great job might I add

Some people put adhesive sand paper on there (basically it is grip tape used by skateboarders). Or...Grizzly Grip like Alpine Spirit has...which looks freakin' sweet by the way. ![[ThumbsUp]](graemlins/thumbsup.gif)

My 3 yr old used to sit on the sliders while getting out, a couple of ass sandings and he learned to step out like everyone else.
