Hey There,

I was looking at Xs today and the sales guy informed me that my employer qualified for the VPP discount program. I got a code from Nissan today. Apparently it is a discount off of the dealer invoice. Anyone have experience with this?
They had an OR with an MSRP of 27000 and change, which looked pretty cool.

Any info on the VPP would be appreciated.

You should be able to get the OR for a lot less then 27K. Mine was listed around that and I walked out paying 24.5K before fees.

What the VPP pricing is a certain amount (percentage) under invoice. I did not qualify for VPP, but when I went in I told them that I would buy if they gave me the VPP price.

I feel like I got a fair deal. I think you might be able to do better than the VPP it is mostly a way to get a fair prcie without having to really fight through negotiations.

If the MSRP is $27k, the Invoice less VPP discount should be under $24k I would think. I paid about the same as Kokopop for mine which was Invoice less $1000 incentive for buying an 05 when the 06's were just hitting the dealer lots.

When I worked for Cisco Systems I bought my X through the VPP. Took about 45 minutes for the entire transaction - no haggling. A set percent under invoice and I had my new X.

I'd bet a non-VPP person might be able to get close to that number, but "dealers may vary." [Freak]

Edit: Cisco's other manufacturer with VPP was BMW. Every 3rd car in the lot one of those. eek

If anyone else here works for any division or subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Co, they should be aware that they have VPP available through Nissan and Infinity. Too bad I don't need a new truck yet...

After they take off your discount they get to add back in their transportation fee.

My Sunday school teacher works for Nissan, I live about 25 miles north of Smyrna, TN, and I've bought 2-3 Nisans using VPP. I didn't qualify for family, only friend. If I remember correctly, friend is invoice less 2.7%.

One thing to remember, I bought a '99 Frontier on VPP and shortly afterward the XTerra came out. I traded it in on a 2001 XTerra. Everywhere I went to trade the dealer knew I bought my Frontier thru VPP. Of course I was buying the X on VPP too. I walked away from every dealer in my area at least once because they wanted to consider that in my trade value. I knew that Nissan made it up to the dealer somehow when they sold a vehicle thru VPP. One finally called me back and we did the deal. The dealer is not supposed to do that to you, but then again, they also have the right to turn down a sale if they can afford to. Stand your ground down the road, most all of them wound up calling me back eventually.

When I was looking for my X, I called probably 15 of the nearest Nissan dealers in all of Northern California.

Only one actually "let" me buy one - this was when they were fetching upwardsd of 5 grand OVER MSRP. I lucked out at the time. This was Palo Alto Nissan - they seemed like a good operation and took care of me well.
