Okay, how tough is it to replace the stock rear bumper and subcomponents (assuming no frame damage) on an 02 X?

I can't tell if the hitch is tweaked or not, but my bumper, plastic cover, and drivers side plastic corner piece need to be replaced due to a recent collision on 75... (no big deal, no paint work I don't think, I'm just wondering if it's worth doing myself, or letting Courtesy/Tony's body shop fix it all).

I couldn't find any measurements in the ESM to check for frame alignment or height. Looked pretty good by the naked eye however. The bumper basicly folded in when the Explorer slid over the hitch...

I have an 01, but I have also had my entire rear bumper off. No biggie. Did it with my dog watching.

Now, your tow hitch my require an extra set of hands just cause of it's weight.

Oh well... Firestone contacted the Body shop (Tonys) affiliated with Courtesy (ok, not affiliated, but their office is in the parking lot?!), to say they would pay for the parts and rental, and all I have to do is get them to order the part then see when it's in, then call them back to set up the rental, then go in and drop it off..

Jeez, getting tagged is such a pain. At least I wasn't in that heinous wreck on 75 this morning. (Mine was pretty small in comparison!)

Looks like me putting on a new bumper at the next mod day is a moot point now.. smile

(PS - went in and saw the new maxima - sweet! and a coworker just got a loaded Armada (dvd+nav+all options!) so, maybe I want the Armada instead of the Titan? Nah. smile )

Sorry, forgot I don't talk to you guys every day like my co-workers.. smile The guy that hit the Explorer, (who then hit me), was driving a customers vehicle for Plano Firestone. Mucked that chevy van up quite a lot, actually.

Wonder what that customer said when he got the phone call? smile I would hate to be the manager of that shop! (Actually, he blew me off for a few days before giving me the number for Firestone corporate. I'm not exactly happy with him either. frown )
